About me
I'm Álvaro Carrasco Naranjo
I'm a senior full-stack and platform engineer with more than ten years around production systems, including over seven years building production software. I like owning the whole thing: the interface, the API, and the server underneath.
I came to software through design and support. I trained in graphic design and worked freelance before an opportunity in Malta took me into IT, administering Linux servers, virtual machines and VoIP systems such as 3CX, FreePBX and Asterisk.
In 2019 I moved into professional full-stack development. These days I write Angular and TypeScript up front, C#/.NET and SQL behind. Everything on this page runs on Linux servers I manage myself (Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS, on VMware or Proxmox).
My work has grown beyond feature delivery. I lead cross-repository changes, investigate production incidents, close application-security risks, improve release safety, and turn product ideas into scoped technical plans. I am most useful where software, infrastructure, customers and business priorities meet.
How I got here

Product ownership
Founded a modern product surface
- Context
- A mature communications platform needed a modern portal foundation that could grow without carrying forward every legacy constraint.
- What I owned
- Established the Angular architecture, design system, CI pipeline, test gate, delivery conventions and the first broad set of product pages.
- Outcome
- Created a production-ready foundation for continued feature delivery, with shared patterns that make later work faster and safer.
Application security
Closed a critical tenancy risk
- Context
- An unrelated investigation exposed an authorization weakness that could cross tenant boundaries in a multi-tenant product.
- What I owned
- Proved the impact, traced the composing paths, implemented layered remediation, addressed adversarial review findings and documented the systemic rule behind the defect.
- Outcome
- Removed the immediate exposure and gave the team a reusable authorization principle for future designs and reviews.
Reliability
Led a production outage investigation
- Context
- Multiple customer-facing products became unavailable at the same time on shared infrastructure.
- What I owned
- Reconstructed the incident from infrastructure evidence, identified the resource failure mode, documented the timeline and prioritized monitoring and resilience follow-ups.
- Outcome
- Turned a one-off outage into an actionable reliability plan focused on earlier detection, capacity headroom and reduced shared risk.
Engineering effectiveness
Made delivery safer and repeatable
- Context
- Frontend repositories lacked automated quality gates, backend live tests had normalized failure, and deployment success could be reported too early.
- What I owned
- Introduced frontend tests and CI gates, stabilized a large live integration suite, tightened deployment verification and distilled recurring review feedback into standing guidance.
- Outcome
- Reduced avoidable regressions and converted individual fixes into practices the wider team can reuse.
